Yoga represents an ancient philosophy and practice having its origins in India. Yoga implies both physical and mental discipline, being a way of improving our life, by continuously training our mind and our body. Yoga represents a way of relaxation and meditation, by using a set of techniques and practices which are extremely beneficial for the mind, the body and the spirit.
Yoga represents a way of discovering ourselves, of defining ourselves, of disciplining our body and mind and of finding equilibrium. Often we live chaotically, doing things without sense, making decisions without thinking, saying things without meaning. We stress ourselves, we hate, we love, we get angry, depressed, we get sick. Yoga practices are offering us solutions to all these problems, by educating our mind, body and spirit in order to reach equilibrium. Yoga practitioners use meditation in order to achieve self-awareness. Improvement must begin with us, with our own change, and the improvement of our own lifestyle, thinking or feeling. In this way we become aware of our true self and our true value.
First of all, yoga exercises improve our physical condition, by training our muscles and joints giving flexibility to our body. Secondly, yoga practices are extremely efficient in stopping the aging process and be healthy by imposing a rigorous discipline. Continuous practice of yoga revitalizes us and reduces the feeling of fatigue and stress, by controlling the energy of our body and helping to unblock it. It is a means of relaxation by eliminating stress.
Another important quality of yoga practice is that it disciplines the mind. It clears the mind, organizing our thought, helping us focus and concentrate on the things we have to do and that are really important in our lives. In addition, yoga helps us understand ourselves and the others, helps us to learn what empathy and compassion means. Yoga practices make us aware of what we are, of how we act or react, of our behavior, improving and changing it. We become more receptive and comprehensive, having a positive thinking and perception about the world, the people and, most of all, about us.
By practicing yoga we get away from the stressful things, we escape from the world that makes us anxious, after a hard day or week, after job or daily things that have to be done, after a year in which we worked hard. We escape from the daily problems and worries, relaxing our mind and body, preparing them for the things that are next to be done.
